👩‍⚕️ THANK YOU SCHOOL NURSES! 👨‍⚕️

Posted Date: 05/06/26 (11:00 AM)

Today, on National School Nurse Day, we celebrate the professionals who quietly hold our schools — and our students — together.

School nurses are far more than caregivers. They are advocates, leaders, protectors, counselors, educators, emergency responders, and trusted lifelines for children and families every single day.

They are the calm in a crisis.
The safe place for a struggling student.
The bridge between healthcare and education.
The reason countless children are healthy, safe, in school, and ready to learn.

For more than 120 years, school nurses have stood on the frontlines of student well-being — managing chronic and life-threatening conditions, supporting mental health, coordinating care, addressing barriers caused by social and community challenges, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed academically and personally.

And today, their role has never been more critical.

With millions of students facing increasingly complex physical and mental health needs, school nurses are not an “extra.” They are essential.

Every family deserves the peace of mind that their child will be cared for while at school.
Every student deserves equitable access to healthcare in the place where they spend most of their day.
Every school deserves a full-time nurse.

Because when we invest in school nurses, we invest in stronger schools, healthier communities, and a better future for all children.

This #SchoolNurseDay, we honor the compassion, resilience, expertise, and unwavering dedication of school nurses everywhere — while also advocating for what students need most:
✔️ A nurse in every school
✔️ Sustainable funding for school health services
✔️ Expanded support for student mental and physical health
✔️ Policies that prioritize student wellness and academic success

School nurses change lives every single day — often without recognition, but never without impact.

To every school nurse: thank you for showing up, speaking up, and standing up for children. Your work matters more than words can express.
